What is an RKN container?
The RKN cool container (LD3 size) is perhaps the most versatile temperature-controlled ULD on the market. 
What are the benefits of cool containers?
Vulnerable cargo such as perishable food, flowers, pharmaceuticals and blood plasma need to be maintained at a certain temperature  so they’re not compromised as they’re transported around the globe. Ordinary aluminium containers cannot properly protect this type of cargo. Certified temperature-controlled containers can guarantee an unbroken cold supply chain.
Does VRR supply active and passive cool containers?
VRR supplies only active cool containers.
Does VRR also lease these containers?
No, VRR only sells cool containers.
What is an active cool container?
An active cool container has a system that monitors and controls a cooling system to maintain automatically the container’s content at a certain temperature level. The system comprises sensors, a control unit, ventilators and an air duct. VRR sells two different kinds of active cool containers: RKN and RAP
What is a passive cool container?
A passive cool container prevents fluctuations in content’s temperature, but it does not actively control the temperature. VRR does not sell passive cool containers.
What is PCM?
PCM stands for Phase Change Materials. PCMs are substances that absorb and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing, so they’re ideal for maintaining a regulated temperature. PCM applications include cool containers, energy-efficient fridges and freezers, high-performance sports and outdoor gear, thermal energy storage systems for a building’s cooling and heating system.
