If it’s maximum volume that you need, look no further than the RAP cool container (LD9 size). This temperature controlled main- and lower-deck ULD can hold almost three times more cargo than the RKN. Because of its high reliability and great performance, this container is often used for transporting pharmaceuticals.
Like its LD3-size counterpart, it uses both dry ice and a temperature control unit to maintains the set temperature for several days. Data is logged throughout the entire journey and can be easily exported.
Like all our ULD's, this RAP is EASA certified and accepted by the FAA. This means we can guarantee it meets the industry’s highest standards concerning safety.

You’ve studied the technical data sheet, browsed the operating manual and seen the price list, so you know the RAP is the right container for you. The next step is a personalised quotation. That’s easy. Just give us a few details, and our sales engineers will produce one for you. In addition to the price, you’ll receive product specifications, a technical proposal and delivery times.
Our RAP container is a big dude that offers plenty of cargo space. But if you don’t need quite so much volume, check out our RKN container. This fully certified, lower-deck cool container has the same great features and is one of the most versatile ULDs on the market.
Looking for something special to ship unique or unusual cargo? We also create quality, customised ULDs that allow the safe transportation of heavy, odd-sized or high-value products. Each one comes with guaranteed global certification. Check out our ‘We Keep It Special’ product family.
Yes, all of VRR’s cool containers have been fully tested in various ambient conditions. They have also been certified as airworthy by the relevant civil aviation authority.
VRR supplies dry ice-based units. These units use dry ice as the cooling agent (–78.9°C).
Depending on ambient conditions, the set temperature can be maintained for several days. As an example, the RKN container has been tested to maintain a set point of 5°C (68.0°F) for 51.5 hours consecutively at an ambient temperature of 30°C. Please contact us for testing data per container.
There are two systems available. VRR cool containers are sold with a rechargeable battery, which can be re-used for multiple cycles. At request you can also buy containers that are D-cell battery powered.
Yes, VRR has designed its own rechargeable battery system to equip its active containers. Some customers prefer this as it saves having to replace D-cell batteries, which can be expensive.
Room temperature: 20°C– 25°C (68.0°F - 77.0°F)
Chilled cargo: 2°C – 8°C (35.6℉ - 46.4°F)
Deep frozen cargo: <-18°C (<-0.4°F)
This depends heavily on the type of perishable. Fish, for instance, requires a deep frozen temperature of <-18°C (<-0.4°F), while some fruits and vegetables need to be kept at between 2°C – 8°C (35.6°F - 46.4°F).
