Join Us as a Senior Design Engineer!

We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects. You will manage everything from understanding customer needs to delivering high-quality products on time and within budget. You’ll guide team members and act as the main technical contact for customers and colleagues.

You will use your technical skills to turn complicated customer requests into practical and reliable solutions that meet all requirements. Clear communication about what is possible—and what isn’t—is key.

YOUR NEW JOB
As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll be part of one of our teams. You will report to one of the team managers. You think cross-departmentally, work strategically, and always see the bigger picture.

 

Your main job responsibilities are:

  • Lead exciting engineering projects from the first quote to the final product, making sure everything is done to the highest standard and in accordance with the applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate project team of engineers with different skills, helping everyone work together smoothly.
  • Be the main technical contact for customers and internal teams, offering expert advice and support.
  • Manage key project checks like PDR, CDR, FAT, FAI, Design-FMEA, and Safety Risk Assessments to ensure safety and quality.
  • Keep all technical data organized and up-to-date in PDM and ERP systems.
  • Track project scope, costs, risks, and progress, providing clear updates to the team and clients, and ensuring smooth project success.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record and enterprising attitude. Specifically, we’d like you to have:

  • HBO in a closely related field (Technical) with a solid technical foundation, ideally in mechanical engineering, aerospace, or a related field, with a passion for innovation.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex technical (engineering) projects that make a real impact. As indication roughly 7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Rich experience in engaging with clients, managing projects, and collaborating across diverse teams to achieve excellence.
  • Hands-on knowledge of critical processes like PDR, CDR, FAT, FAI, Design FMEA, and Safety Risk Assessments.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills enable you to identify key issues, make sound decisions, and align project goals with broader business objectives.

  • Great communication skills. You can clearly explain ideas both in speaking and writing, and you adjust your way of talking to suit your audience. You make sure your message is easy to understand.
  • Excellent at solving problems. You find effective solutions quickly and handle difficult challenges well, even when things are busy or stressful. You can also spot and prevent problems before they happen.
  • Very good at organizing and managing your time. You plan your work, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks at once—meeting deadlines and helping your team work smoothly. You stay focused and efficient, even in busy times.
  • A genuine interest or background in aviation is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Design-to-Cost initiatives is a valuable bonus.
  • English language skills at CEFR level B2 – Upper Intermediate: Communicates clearly in professional situations; writes and interacts with ease.

This job is located in Rotterdam, Netherlands, so you need to be living within commuting distance or prepared to move to the area.
