Large, spacious and very, very robust. This is the HMA horse stall, designed for use aboard B747F aircraft.
The HMA can be equipped with all the features so much preferred by grooms, to make this spacious giant a very safe and comfortable cabin during air travel for both horses as animal attendants.
The underpinning is a heavy-duty sandwich pallet to allow handling per forklift truck (when empty) and to prevent the horses from feeling the rollers (PDU) inside the aircraft when being positioned to their final pallet position.
A very rigid top structure is arranged through large, well-rounded aluminium extrusions. Inter-connecting aluminium extrusions are used for the construction of wall segments and both ramps.
Front and aft side are equipped with ramps to allow uni-directional horse (un)loading. Optionally, the ramps could also open as regular cargo doors too (vertically hinged), to allow loading of cargo per forklift truck. This door construction therefore allows some general cargo revenue when positioning the horse stall through your network - note the shown version does not feature such combined ramp/door function.
Grooms and animal attendants can make their entrance through easy to operate lightweight sliding doors, which do not protrude inwards, to prevent upsetting the horses at entrance.
Partitions separating the horses feature built-in retractable sniffer boards. The partitions are hung from the top with maintenance free bearings and can be simply maneuvered into the desired position by hand to ease loading. Locking of the partitions, at various locations, is swift and easy due to stainless steel spring-loaded pins.
Solid breast frames allow the grooms and animal attendants a safe working area to look after the animals during the shipment. Multiple rings and hooks provide convenient storage of hay bags etc.
At the aft side, additional aft bars and kick doors could be provided to retain each horse in position directly after loading – the grooms can then concentrate on the loading of the next animal.
Aircraft other than the B747F may accept the HMA however then need to fly the HMA at the centre-position (rather than side-by-side).
